Top 5 Business Tools for Entrepreneurs

In our business, we utilize these tools daily and highly recommend them. They are nothing new but are extremely efficient and helpful. We understand that you cannot start a business with tools that cost an arm and a leg, so be assured that these are mostly either free or super inexpensive to use.

So here they are:

Evernote

I use this tool on my phone and laptop for various things: quick notes, finding articles online, etc. Whenever we purchase items online and receive email confirmations, it is a simple process to forward those messages into Evernote for safe keeping.

Another awesome feature I use Evernote for is the ability to take pictures of business cards. This cool factor of Evernote takes the information off of the card and puts it in text format in a note.

Searching in Evernote is excellent; you can even search words on images! It is crazy technology!

We pay for the premium features, and the upgraded cost is well worth it.

Our top uses:

  • Web Clipper is used for getting ideas online and storing them for later use.
  • The Search function is used for finding past documents, notes, and images.
  • The Camera function can be used for taking pictures of business cards and storing them for later use.
  • The Emailing function is used for keeping track of documents and important emails.

Trello

We use the free version of Trello and have had no complaints about its functionality. Well…maybe just one: I really wish it could have two power-ups instead of just one. Without Trello, we would have no project management system in place. We basically use it to keep track of our pipeline and blog posts.

The main power-up we use is Elegantt. We absolutely love it! Elegantt helps keep track of when things need to be done.

Our top uses:

  • Gantt functions as a business management tool for knowing what needs to be done.
  • Gantt charts information for knowing what needs to be done in what order.

Google Docs

Google Docs is a free program you have probably used before. We use it primarily when we write our blogs. However, it can also be used as a great tool for collaboration; since we can leave comments or suggestions on the documents themselves for team members to view.

I like to take notes in Google Keep and then easily import them into Google Docs.

Our top uses:

  • We use Keep as an effective collaboration tool with the team.
  • Keep makes blog post writing simple and straightforward; it’s just like using Microsoft Word.
  • Google Keep notes are integrated easily.

Google Sheets

Basically, our biggest usage for Google Sheets would be when creating sitemaps for building a new website’s navigation. We also use Sheets for keeping track of our financial expenses or when creating pricing system ideas. It is for simple usage only–using it for accounting purposes is probably not really a good idea.

Our top uses:

  • We use Sheets as a collaboration tool–like Google Docs.
  • Google Sheets is an effective tool for simple data collections and calculations.
  • Google Sheets can be used for sitemap creations to assist in navigating new websites.

Mailchimp

Mailchimp is free to use. We use it to create and maintain our mailing lists, newsletters, and lead magnets. WordPress makes it very easy to set up Mailchimp on your site, not to mention that there are numerous, functional plugins that you can use with it.

Our top uses:

  • We use Mailchimp to create email opt-ins for collecting emails from potential clients.
  • Mailchimp is a great tool for managing lead magnets for use with opt-ins.

So there you have it! Our five most effective business tools for entrepreneurs, or prospective entrepreneurs. If you have any other uses or suggestions for time-saving, functional business tools, please let us know in the comments! We’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback!
